Enrolling Now for the 2010-2011 School Year

The Independent Electrical Contractors apprenticeship training program is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and State Apprenticeship Councils.  It is a nationally standardized program that ensures the highest quality training, and it has been evaluated by the American Council on Education and granted college credit equivalency.

During a four- to five-year period, an apprentice electrician will receive at least 8,000 hours of one-the-job-training and a minimum of 576 hours of related technical instruction.  We offer both online and classroom instruction.  To apply, simply download the pdf file for the type of instruction you are interested in, fill it out and return it to our office.

Interested in becoming an Electrical Apprentice?
You need to be at least 16 years of age in Idaho. Here is a suggested order of steps that you will need to take, but you can also take these steps in the reverse order:

1. You will need to secure an electrical apprenticeship job. Call or visit electrical contractors to see if they are hiring.

2. Register with the Electrical Bureau. The Apprentice Registration Form can be found at http://dbs.idaho.gov/electrical/licenses.html. There is a $50 registration fee.

3. Register for the IEC Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program (a 4 yr program).
